 Who are the Knights?

The Knights of Columbus is the world's largest Catholic family fraternal service organization with nearly 1.7 million members. It provides members and their families with volunteer opportunities in service to the Catholic Church, their communities, families and young people.

Our Council

Our Council received its Charter in 1901 and is one of the oldest active Councils of the order. We currently have almost 200 members on our roster. We are proud of our continued involvement with many fundraising activities for worthy local charitable organizations. Our members and their families share a common interest in “doing the right thing” and “getting involved”. We intend to continue our efforts for a long time to come.
If you choose to join General Sherman Father Shine Council 569, or our Columbiette Auxiliary, you will have the opportunity to join your brother Knights in supporting charities such as “The Bridge to Life”, “The Special Olympics”, “St. Mary’s Hospital for Children”, “The NYPD Widow’s and Children’s Fund” and many others. At our Council CHARITY is, and always will be, our First Point of Order.
Our Council also offers a full slate of family oriented activities and events throughout the year. Our monthly newsletter, “The Flushing Knight”, will keep you informed of upcoming events. Our clubhouse is conveniently located on Pidgeon Meadow Road just one block North of Kissena Park. Our Building consists of a social club on the first floor and a banquet hall downstairs. Our RENTAL HALL is available for private parties and can accommodate up to 100 people. Our landscaped Council yard is completed with horseshoe pits and a Bar-B-Que. It’s a great place for the kids to play. We are open 4 days a week, and our big screen TV's always feature local sporting events. Feel free to stop in anytime to play a video game, shoot a game of pool, play ping-pong, throw some darts or just relax and enjoy the company of our members at the Council Bar.
